Born in Weimar on April 28, 1835, Johann Carl Wilhelm Tümmler was baptized in Jakobskirche on March 3, 1835.  His parents were Carl Friedrich Felix Tümmler and Johanne Marie Regine Römer.  See line #372 below.

He had several siblings. Click below to see their records.

In one of the letters of recommendation that Karl kept was a reference to him having studied at the University of Jena.  Susann Pfeifer tracked down his matriculation document.  That and more from his days in Jena here:

Another discovery in Weimar was the location of the Tuemmler residence. In a street address book from 1853, I found the address 43 Frauenthorstrasse, but when I went to that street, the highest number was 22.

After looking at old maps in the city archive, Susann Pfeifer discovered that one side of the street had been destroyed in WWII and all the numbers had been changed.  The old 43 Frauenthorstrasse is now this pizzeria (17 Frauenthorstrasse)

Also in the city archives, we found that in the 1860s they had moved to Vorwerk, now  Marstallstrasse, but the building is no longer standing, just the foundation.
